Important Advice to Students regarding the revised Academic Progress Policy
The Academic Progress Policy is now a two-year process, rather than covering three years as it did previously. A student who fails to pass half or more of the points enrolled for in any calendar year is placed on Conditional Enrolment for the next year in which they enrol. If half or more of the points enrolled for in the Conditional Enrolment year are not passed, then the student is suspended from the University for the subsequent two calendar years.
This policy now also applies to students transferring from other universities as if their previous study had been undertaken at the University of Otago. Thus, students suspended under the academic progress policies (or equivalent) of other universities will not be permitted to transfer to Otago until such time as that suspension has passed.
As we proceed further into Semester One, it is important that students are aware of this policy.
Second Semester Course Advising and Approval
Advisers of Studies will be located in the Union Building and the Link on Thursday 8 July 2010, from 9.30am until 4.00pm
Change to method of paying fines in the Central Library
As of Monday 24 May the Central Library will no longer accept cash at its main Lending desk for the payment of Library fines or to add funds to student ID cards. Eftpos will still be available to do both. Instead of cash we will accept payment of fines by deducting funds from the student ID card. Students without sufficient funds on their ID cards can add funds using cash or eftpos at autoloaders located in the Central Library ground floor and first floor. This will only apply to the Central Library, other Library branches will remain unchanged.
